   I would like to know whether the Netmanage's Chameleon ver 4.0 Mail
client is Winsock application or not? Can it run under trumpet winsock
stack? I ftp the Chameleon 4.0 demo version, but when I run the mail
under trumpet winsock stack and it displays that it needs dynamic link
to something....

I've seen similar behavior on one of my users machines.  It seems to be
releated to the amount of dos memory free before you start windows (the
more the beter) and also what programs you ran before/while loading
trumpet. Like if you loaded pfe it worked, if you loaded filemanager
it didn't, sounds like a funky maloc() call in trumpet.

I just voted with mine. I was going to buy a copy for evaluation, but this
is not the kind of thing I want to get into.

Anyone know of another way to use WINSOCK from Visual Basic? In my case I
have never done ANY socket or TCP/IP or network programming. After
reading the Winsock specs, Distinct Visual Edition looked appealing.

IMHO a Winsock VBX should be a fairly thin layer on top of the Winsock
API with the ability to easily get at all the Winsock details. Of course
it should not have *ANY* reliance on .DLL's or code other than the
Winsock API itself. Has anyone else come up with Winsock VBX's??
